Our commitment

Providing Hope and Nourishment With Dignity and Love

Our building is holding our Patron Families back. We need to remove the physical barriers that make it so difficult for them to get to and use our services. Vern, a long-time Patron who is legally blind, had this to share:

Navigating The Obstacle Course

“Navigating the world when you can’t see is a challenge, and the current food pantry location in the basement is no exception. The narrow aisles and dim lighting make it incredibly difficult for me to find what I need. Thanks to your support of this organization, the new space will be a game-changer. I will feel so much more independent and confident knowing I can get the food I need with dignity and ease. It’s more than just a pantry; it’s a place that truly understands and cares about its community.”

How We CURRENTLY Serve

Providing Basic Needs

At Project Concern, our goal is to compassionately provide a path to self-sufficiency for community members in need. Right now, we are able to offer the following:

Food Assistance

We offer weekly food pantry services to over 1,500 local households, providing nourishment and support to our community members in need.

Clothing Assistance

Our no-cost thrift store is stocked with donated items for individuals and families in need of clothing & household assistance.

Additional Referrals

We understand that basic needs are only one piece of the puzzle on the path to self-sufficiency.

Basic needs

We’re well known for providing love and support in the moment. Often we hear “you’re just SO NICE” but it’s also just who we are. We are present and hold space for the person directly in front of us.

Over 50 Years of Serving the Community

With our humble beginnings starting in a church basement, we have now grown into a vital organization that has been serving the Cudahy and St. Francis community with pride.

Only one paycheck away…

Most families are one paycheck, illness, or accident away from experiencing financial, housing, and/or food insecurity.

“My husband is a veteran, and we both work full-time and do everything right, but with three kids, it’s still a struggle to make ends meet. Every month, after paying the bills, there’s a real worry about how we’ll put food on the table. This food pantry has been a lifeline for our family. It takes a huge weight off our shoulders, allowing us to provide healthy meals for our children without the constant stress. It’s a place where we feel supported and appreciated, and it’s made all the difference for our family’s well-being.” – Trisha & Matt

With expanded programming, a more streamlined space and access for all of our community, we can help many more families like this.

no one is immune

We serve hundreds of senior citizens each and every month.

“My social security check helps with my basic bills, but it’s just not enough to cover everything, especially with the rising cost of groceries. I would worry constantly about having enough to eat, and I was often forced to skip meals. Coming to the food pantry has given me peace of mind. I know I can count on them for the food I need, and the volunteers are always so kind and welcoming. It’s more than just food; it’s the comfort of knowing I’m not alone in this, and that there are people who care.”
